First time cross
Key Objectives
Test the wide players ability to put in crosses first time and the strikers ability to finish from a cross
Technical/Coaching Points
Timing of the run from the striker
Quality of the cross from the wide player
Commitment to get something on the cross
Organisation
Set up players in 4 columns outside the box, with 2 players in the corners of the box
Players in the wide area have balls
How to play
Wide player on one side plays a pass to the player on the inside of the box who plays a pass into space for the wide player to run on to
The wide player moves to receive the ball and crosses first time
As the wide player is moving the attacker also makes a run into the box attempting to meet the cross and score
After the shot the opposite side wide player goes.
Progression
If your plays find this too easy or too difficult, you could progress the game in the following ways:
Allow more than 1 touch before a cross
Impose limits on touches from the striker
Dictate parts of the foot/body the striker must finish with
Add in defenders
